Stop using your scales

Health is not a numerical concept and we cannot define it by using statistics. We as human beings, seem to want to quantify well-being into easily understandable figures. We feel compelled to ascribe numbers to every aspect of wellness, from the qualities of our food to our fitness levels to the physical space we occupy. As a consequence of social and peer pressures, we often turn our attention away from health and focus instead on the most contentious of these figures—weight—checking our scales to see how we measure up to those peers and our role models. Yet each of us is equipped to gauge our relative healthfulness without any equipment whatsoever. When we have achieved a state of wellness, we feel buoyant and energetic. Some of us are naturally slim, while others will always be curvy. No matter what our weight, we can use the cues we receive from our physical and mental selves to judge how healthy we really are.

When you stop using your scales, you commit to a lifestyle that honours the innate wisdom that comes from within your body and within your mind. It is logical to examine how you feel while considering your health—a strong, fit, and well-nourished individual will seldom feel heavy, bloated, or fatigued. If you have concerns regarding your weight, remind yourself that at its proper weight, your body will feel buoyant and agile. Movement becomes a source of joy. Sitting, standing, walking, and bending are all easy to do because your joints and organs are functioning as they were meant to. When you are physically healthy, your mind will also typically occupy a place of well-being. Mental clarity and an ability to focus are two natural traits of whole-self health. Surprisingly, promoting this type of easy-to-discern wellness within yourself takes no special effort outside of satisfying your hunger with nourishing, wholesome foods and moving your body.

The numbers you see on the scales, while nominally informative, can prevent you from reaching your healthful eating goals by giving you a false indicator of health. You will know when you have achieved true health because every fibre of your being will send you signals of wellness. When you choose to listen to these signals instead of relying on the scale, your definition of well-being will be uniquely adapted to the needs of your body and of your mind.

You can’t go back and make a new beginning, but you can start today to make a new ending.  Coaching is the key to transforming your life. It begins with helping you to understand where you are now and to obtain clarity about what you would like to achieve.  I then work with you to create and execute a plan of action to move you forward and transform your life.  You’ll be educated, entertained and inspired to take action immediately as I am one of the top coaches in my field and I promise you’ll find clear, logical, easy-to-implement ideas – most of which will make a difference to your life straight away.

Do you have a dream? Become really passionate about it, enthuse to others about it, then begin to do as many things as you can to bring the picture you have in your mind into form. You don’t need to change everything in your life to achieve it – just take baby steps towards it…gently…slowly.

In the absence of clearly defined goals, you become strangely loyal to performing daily trivia and ultimately become enslaved by it. You have a dream; have you set your goals to make that dream come true?  Don’t let it sit in your imagination or your heart forever …trust in you… let it out…..let it come to life.

Take this opportunity to invest in yourself . This investment won’t let you down. The more things change, the more YOU can’t afford not to.

Your sessions are focused and forward thinking, allowing you to get the results you need quickly and enjoyably and ensuring you get great value for money.

If you are stuck at any point by fear of the unknown, I will help with various techniques, such as NLP and TFT, to rid you of the anxiety associated with fears and thus help you to move forward with your life.

I have worked with a range of clients, male and female, young and old, each with their own unique lifestyles and challenges.  I am proud to be able to say that every one of them has benefited from my coaching.  Many of them have made massive changes to their lives, these have included one person changing their career, another moving to another part of the country and building their new life very successfully, and many people have additionally benefited from the removal of their fears.

Don’t be one of the 90% of people who will look back with regret, knowing their lives could have been different. Take this golden opportunity to be fulfilled and live the dream. Have more fun, more freedom, less stress and be the person you have always wanted to be.  Or, of course, you could do nothing. The choice is yours.

Confidentiality is paramount. We will not discuss confidential information in any setting unless privacy can be assured. Confidentiality is absolute between the coach and coachee.

Every single one of us is capable of achieving truly amazing things, but you have to choose. Are you going to be one of the 10% or one of the 90%?

An instant holiday

Since we were young most of us are led to believe that relaxation is best achieved outside of the home. As a result, we spend months anticipating weeklong holidays, rarely fully appreciating the leisure time we have on a more regular basis. It is possible, however, to recreate the same utterly relaxed state you slip into while on holiday within the walls of your own home. The feelings of serenity you enjoy during a holiday are a product of your outlook rather than where you are. You give yourself permission to enjoy yourself and unwind while on holiday. Granting yourself the same privilege while at home allows you to experience complete relaxation, even when surrounded by routine.

Our homes can be distracting places as most survival tasks are addressed there. Reviving the tranquility you felt on holiday is as easy as creating an atmosphere that helps you relax. First, get rid of the notion that messes must be cleaned up immediately and reaffirm that relaxation is as vital as physical nourishment. Then, set the mood. Music that reminds you of a much loved holiday destination can put you in a holiday mind-set. The exotic flavour of a tropical beverage or the spiciness a favourite ethnic dish can transport you to a more restful mental space. Finally, put aside your projects and commit to doing only what you consider truly pleasurable. Your responsibilities will wait as you put up your feet and revel in peacefulness that comes from within.

If you find it difficult to ignore the temptation to step back into your usual schedule, consider that relaxation must occupy a prominent place on your to-do list. You deserve to take “you time” and to care for yourself, even during life’s busy periods. While you may not always be able to physically get away from it all, you can still nurture yourself and regain your peace of mind whilst at home.

If you would like to begin to make changes in your life,  then contact me and begin your journey. I would love work with you.

We’re all in the same boat

We may have different paddles or be floating on different rivers but we are all in the same boat. We all live in human bodies. These are the vehicles in which we move through our world. We are all made of flesh and blood, with a skeleton and brains, hearts, and lungs to power us. Our paddles – the tools we use to move through the world – vary, as do the bodies of water -the environments – in which we find ourselves.

boats

Some of us use our brain power to get where we want to go. Some of use our smiles, others use kindness, a gift with language, or athletic ability. We were born with some of these qualities  and others are skills we have learned. Considering this metaphor in light of your own life can be very enlightening. What tools are you using to get from point A to point B in your life? Chances are, you and the people you know have used many different tools in various combinations throughout your lives to get where you needed to go. Just as with oars or paddles, a balanced approach is best. If you rely too much on one thing, like beauty, to open doors, you fail to be well-rounded and you may eventually lose your equilibrium. And if you lose that one quality, you have no paddle at all. This is inspiration to develop multiple tools to navigate your world.

Some of us may be moving along paths that are like white water rivers; others may be on a large, still lake. We have all felt, at one time or another, tossed about on a stormy ocean. Through all this, we are never really alone, even though it might seem that way. There is inspiration all around us in the form of other people making their way through the world, in the very same boat. Remember to look around you for role models, companionship, and encouragement.

If you would like to begin to change your world,  then contact me and begin your journey. I would love work with you.

Living together differently

We tend to be drawn toward people who are the most like us, at least in the ways that make us feel comfortable. But life has its way of bringing us into contact with people who challenge us with their differences. The difference may be obvious reflected in their outward appearance or it may be invisible such as their powerful philosophical stance.  Even in our closest circle of friends and family, there are those that accost us with their different ways of experiencing and expressing life. We can of course choose to resist.  We can also choose to learn from them and appreciate their place in the kaleidoscope of life.

As much as we may say how we want peace and quiet and a life without struggle, the truth is that we human beings are thriving in a world of dualities and challenges. It is how we choose to approach these hurdles that determine if we sail over them, confirming our agility, or trip up and fall face down in the dust. And each of us will probably stumble, and then get up, brush the dust off and carry on. This is how we learn and grow, developing depth of character and shades of understanding. In a world of dualities, we have trouble defining ourselves without something opposite, and can’t discover who we are. Without challenge, there is nothing to do and nothing to discover. That leaves us either in a state of non-being or in the state of pure spirit. As humans, we are spiritual beings experiencing the physical world in all of its startling contrast and beauty.

No matter how spiritual we are or are not, our lives will have challenges. We will always run into people that are different from us, but the true challenge may be in finding ways to be at peace with this process. Rather than give in to the fight or flight response that comes from our animal nature, we can find new ways to evolve together into higher more beautiful expressions of ourselves, realising, embracing and celebrating the beauty of diversity and the strength it offers for the future.

Making Big Change Easier

When we have decided that it’s time for some big changes in our lives, it is sensible to ease into them by starting small. Those small changes allow us to grow into a new habit and make it a permanent part of our lives. Sudden changes may cause a sense of failure that may make it difficult to carry on, and we are more likely to give up.  Even if we think we have failed and find ourselves wondering whether to start over again, we can decide to take it more slowly this time, and move forward.

Frequently the goals we set for ourselves are indicators of the need for change and encourage us to get moving in the right direction. Be aware that it is possible that once we try out what seemed so ideal, we may find that it doesn’t actually sit right with us, or make us feel the way we had hoped. By taking things slowly, we have the chance to look around and consider other options as we learn and grow. We have time to examine the underlying values of the desire for change and find ways to manifest those feelings, whether it looks exactly like our initial goal or not. Taking small steps forward gives us time to adjust and find secure footing on our new path.

Sometimes life doesn’t give us the opportunity to anticipate or prepare for a big change, and we may find ourselves overwhelmed by what is in front of us. By choosing one thing to work on at a time, we focus our attention on something manageable, and eventually we will look up to see that we have accomplished quite a bit. Forcing change is a sign that we don’t trust our innate wisdom. So listen to your inner guidance and make changes at a pace that is right for you, ensuring that you do so in alignment with your life’s rhythms.

If you would like to begin to change your world,  then contact me and begin your journey. I would love work with you.

Laughing is good for us

As children, we laughed hundreds of times each day, revelling in the new things in life. When we reached adulthood, however, we tended to not allow ourselves to let go in a good belly laugh. Inviting laughter back into our lives is simply a matter of making the conscious decision to laugh. Although most of us are triggered to laugh only when exposed to humour or the unexpected, each of us is capable of laughing at will. A laugh that comes from the belly carries with it the same positive effects whether prompted by a funny joke or consciously willed into existence. When our laughter comes from the core of our being, it permeates every cell in our physical selves, beginning in the centre and radiating outward, until we are not merely belly laughing but rather body laughing.

happychildren

Laughter has been a part of the human method of expression since before evolution granted us the art of speech. Through it, we connected with allies while demonstrating our connection with people we didn’t know. Today, in the now, laughter allows us to enjoy positive shared experiences with strangers and loved ones alike. Yet solitary laughter carries with it its own slew of benefits. An energetic and enthusiastic bout of whole-body laughter exercises the muscles, the lungs, and the mind in equal measure, leaving us feeling relaxed and content. When we laugh heartily at life’s ridiculousness instead of responding irritably, our focus shifts. Anger, stress, guilt, and sadness no longer wield any influence over us, and we are empowered to make light of what we originally feared. Laughter also opens our hearts, letting love and light in, changing our perspective, and enabling us to fix our attention on what is positive in our lives.

It is easy to laugh when we feel good, but it is when the world appears dim that we most need laughter in our lives. Our laughter then resonates through our hearts, filling the empty spaces with pure, unadulterated joy. We regain our footing in the moment and remember that no sorrow is powerful enough to rob us of our innate happiness. When we understand that uninhibited laughter is the food of the soul, nourishing us from within, we know instinctively that life is worthwhile.
