Blaming Others

When we understand that the world outside of us is a reflection of the world inside of us, we could feel confused about who is to blame for the problems in our lives. If we had a difficult childhood, we may wonder how we can take responsibility for that, and in our current relationships, the same question arises. We all know that blaming others is the opposite of taking responsibility, but we may not understand how to take responsibility for things that we don’t feel responsible for. We may blame our parents for our low self-esteem, and we may blame our current partner for exacerbating it with their unconscious behaviour. Objectively, this seems to make sense. After all, it is not our fault if our parents were irresponsible or unkind, and we are not to blame for our partner’s bad behaviour.

Perhaps the problem lies with the action of blaming. Whether we blame others or blame ourselves, there is something aggressive and unkind about it. It sets up a situation in which it becomes difficult to move forward with the feelings of shame and guilt that arise. It also puts the resolution of our pain in the hands of someone other than us. Ultimately, we cannot insist that someone else take responsibility for their actions; only they can make that choice when they are ready. In the meantime, if we want to move forward with our lives instead of waiting around for something that may or may not happen, we begin to see the wisdom of taking the situation into our own hands.

We do this by forgiving our parents, even if they have not asked for our forgiveness, so that we can be free. We end the abusive relationship with our partner, who may never admit to any wrongdoing, because we are willing to take responsibility for how we are treated. In short, we love ourselves as we want to be loved and create the life we know we deserve. We leave the resolution of the wrongs committed against us in the hands of the universe, releasing ourselves to live a life free of blame.

If this has resonated with you get in touch today. Through personalised guidance, I will help you to learn to rebuild your self confidence, understand how forgiveness works and change the way you are thinking about what you think about yourself.

Are You Holding on to Things You ‘Should’ Do?

A lot of people carry around with them a large amount of “baggage” or “clutter” in their minds. When I say this I mean that they are still holding onto things that they say they ‘should’ do, but they really don’t need to. The ‘coulds’ and ‘shoulds’ in your life that hold you back – you want to let go, but you don’t. An example is worrying about whether they should have bought that handbag they liked even though they couldn’t afford it. Worrying about it and continuing to carry around that clutter doesn’t do anyone any good. This is very common with people going through or in the aftermath of divorce. You are not alone, I have done it myself.

Are you carrying around with you a lot of emotional attention that you really could be doing without instead of focusing on something more productive? Are you like this? If you are, I bet it has a negative influence on your confidence and self esteem. Take a look at your life and get rid of this baggage by asking yourself some questions and by completing the following exercise. In effect, what you are doing is making certain tasks “complete”, drawing a line under them and moving on. Another term for this is “psychological completion” or just “completion”.

The following questions can be taken at one sitting or over a number of hours/days. By writing the answers down they become more formal. Get to it and watch your confidence soar!

• Make a list of 10 things that you are putting up with at home

• Make a list of 10 things that you are putting up with at work

• Make a list of 10 things that you are putting up with in any other areas of your life

Are you surprised at what you are putting up with in your life?

Make an action plan of how to reduce this number! Take action!

• Do you need to clear the air with anyone? If so, just do it! Life is too short!

• Did you ever say that you were going to call someone or keep in touch with someone yet have done nothing about it? If yes, call them or send an email to them today.

Let go of as many coulds, woulds, shoulds, maybes, oughts as you can. Take action!

By completing these exercises you will be able to focus more on the here, the now and the future. You will now be able to let go of some of the things that have been taking up your valuable attention units – those things that knock your self esteem.

Do you want to remain stuck and miserable? If your answer is no, take action.

If this has resonated with you get in touch today. Through personalised guidance, I will help you to learn to rebuild your self confidence and change the way you are thinking about what you think about yourself.

Gaslighting is very subtle

Gaslighting can feel so subtle in the beginning. A passing comment that makes you doubt yourself. A quiet dismissal of your feelings. A disagreement where you walk away wondering if you really did remember incorrectly. That’s the tricky thing about gaslighting it often starts small, almost invisible, until one day you realise you’re questioning your own reality. For many, gaslighting is a trait of a narcissistic relationship, a way of another person keeping you off balance and unsure of yourself.

If you’ve experienced this, understand that it’s not your fault and you’re not imagining things. Gaslighting is intended to confuse you, but the fact that you’re noticing it now is a sign of your strength. When you can name these patterns for what they are, you can begin to reclaim your confidence, rebuild your sense of self, and take meaningful steps toward healthier relationships.

Healing from the effects of gaslighting and narcissistic behaviour is possible u and it’s a deeply empowering journey. You deserve to feel grounded in your own truth again, to set boundaries that honour you, and to trust your inner knowing. There’s a brighter, more peaceful chapter ahead of you, and every small step you take brings you closer to the love and respect you know you have always deserved.

If this has resonated with you get in touch today. Through personalised guidance, I will help you to learn to rebuild your self confidence and change the way you are thinking about what you think about yourself.

Always listen to your gut

Your gut is so much more than a place where food is digested. Often called your “second brain,” it carries an intricate web of neurons and a hidden wisdom. It is sensitive, intuitive, and deeply attuned. It notices when you’re worried, when something or someone doesn’t seem right, when life feels too fast, or when something you’ve eaten isn’t nourishing you. Sometimes it tries to get your attention with bloat or inflammation, not to punish you, but to whisper: Something inside needs attention and love right now.

Just as you pay attention to the words of a trusted friend, you can learn to tune in to the signals of the gut. Sometimes it asks for gentler foods, more rest, or replenishing hydration. Other times, it longs for a break from chronic stress and overload, or for you to honour your emotions instead of pushing them down. When you respond with compassion, a message of safety emanates through the body and nervous system.

With that sense of safety, the gut begins to soften, to settle, and to heal. What follows is more than physical relief. You rediscover a quiet freedom within, a return to balance, and ease. This kind of healing ripples outward, uplifting your confidence, nurturing your well-being, and helping you to look and feel your best. At its heart, it is a remembering, within you lives a wise and sensitive guide, always ready to lead you back to wholeness.

If this has resonated with you get in touch today. Through personalised guidance, I will help you to learn to live in the moment and change the way you are thinking about what you think about yourself.

Let them

Let them call you selfish. Protecting your peace is vital.

Let them think you are quiet. Not everyone deserves to hear your words.

Let them roll their eyes. Your happiness is not up for debate.

Let them judge your choices. You are the one living with those choices.

Photo by Engin Akyurt on Pexels.com

Let them walk in and out. Consistency is their responsibility, it is not yours.

Let them call you different. It means you are not blending into the crowd.

Let them think you are too much. You are simply not for them.

Let them mock your boundaries. You built them for protection, not for their approval.

Let them talk behind your back. That is where they belong.

Let them underestimate your strength. Storms create warriors, not whispers.

If this has resonated with you get in touch today. Through personalised guidance, I will help you to ‘let them’ and change the way you are thinking about what you think about yourself.

Confidence sapping friends and colleagues

The people with whom you have the most contact and hang around will have either a positive or negative effect on your levels of self-esteem and confidence.  We all know those people who are positive, happy and joyful to be around. How do they make you feel? Yes, they make you feel the same!  They can put zest into a boring atmosphere and can fill the room with positive, can do vibes that has a knock on effect onto everyone else.

Photo by Matheus Bertelli on Pexels.com

We also know of those people who could moan for England! They never had the opportunities, they are always putting people down, they don’t like others to be successful, they are jealous and are negative thinkers. These people drain your energy and bring you down to their level, a million miles away from the level that YOU want to be operating on . Family members can be a lot like this as well, but you can always choose your friends, you can’t choose your relatives! So what should you do to make sure that the people who you hang around with empower and support what you stand for rather than bring you down all of the time?

You have the power to choose who you hang around with. Ideally you want happy, vibrant and positive people.  If you have good friends who are negative and yet you still want to hang around them, make a point of letting them know how you feel – if they are a true friend they will respect you for this. If they are negative from time to time just acknowledge that this is what they are like and block out the negativity. The same can be said with family. Your more mature family members have behaviours that have been conditioned for years and years and from different eras. Appreciate where they have come from and as in number 2 above, elicit and select the information that filters through to your brain. Remember, that nothing has meaning in life except the meaning that you give it.

If this has resonated with you get in touch today. Through personalised guidance, I will help you to create your own boundaries so you will rebuild confidence in yourself.

Being fearful by conditioning

We all have fears.  Some of them are passed down from our parents, and some we learn for ourselves.  Parents can condition us unwittingly and unintentionally. We all learn by example. If we really examine our fears about something, we can notice that the fear we have is not based on our own experience at all. We can trace that fear back to its source.  We may find that one of our parents handed it down to us. For example, your mother or father may have had an intense fear of lack of money, stemming from their own life experiences. If that fear was not resolved by the time you came into the picture, chances are you inherited it. Meanwhile, you may have no actual experience of lacking money, so being fearful doesn’t make sense, and it may even block you from doing certain things you want to do. Of course your parents were only trying to protect you, and that most of the errors in judgment they made were made with the best intentions. Now may be the time to release this fear symbolically.

Photo by MART PRODUCTION on Pexels.com

Obviously you cannot resolve someone else’s fear for them, but you can decide to let go of it on your own behalf. Whether your parents are still alive or not, I believe it is best to do this in a symbolic way, using visualisation. One simple visualisation I use, is to imagine you are sitting in a huge comfy chair, and in front of you is a blank wall.  On that wall you will write the name of the fear in great big letters. Now, as you think about releasing this fear, and how you will feel after it has been released, begin to wipe away each letter of the fear one by one.  As you do that and simultaneously think about releasing the fear, that fear is dissolved, for good.  Then you can sit back in your comfy chair and be free of that fear. The more we do this deep inner work with our fears, the better we will be able to parent our own children without burdening them with fears that don’t belong to them. Some of us will do as much of this work as we can before we become parents, while others will be working on this even as our children become adults. Some of us will not begin this work until they retire.  Whenever we undertake it, the effects will be felt, because once we break our ties to the fears of the past, our children’s ties to those fears are greatly weakened, so it’s important to remember that it’s never too late.

Allowing yourself to release your fears is one step in the right direction to lessening the burden on yourself, and will help you to live a more balanced life.  Ask yourself this – Why am I living a life with fears that take up so much of my energy?  Why don’t I release some of these fears so that I can begin to live my life in my own way? Notice how good you feel after you have released some of those inherited fears.

If this has resonated with you get in touch today. Through personalised guidance, I will help you to release those fears so you can create a less fearful life for yourself.

I love my job

Speaking with one of my clients yesterday and they realised just how far they had come since working with me.

At first they had no idea how talented they were, how intelligent they were and had absolutely no self confidence.

Photo by cottonbro studio on Pexels.com

Today they are selling their products worldwide and locally, they are planning more projects whilst still working on current objectives at the same time.

I am so proud of my client and how they have progressed over the past year or so. From being almost afraid to speak to having a definite opinion.

Well done xx

Sentences to live in your head rent free

Fear doesn’t stop death, it stops life.

If it costs you your peace, it is too expensive.

People only see the decisions you made, not the choices you had.

Never take criticism from somone you wouldn’t take advice from.

The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Ships are safe in the harbour, but that’s not what they’re built for.

Ambition without action turns into anxiety.

To live a life most people don’t, you must be willing to do what most people won’t.

You can do anything, but not everything – focus.

If you want to make the wrong decisions, ask everyone.

Those who don’t move won’t notice their chains.

It’s okay to live a life most people don’t understand.

If someone could only see your actions and not hear your words, what would they say your priorities are?

You can’t have a new reality with an old mentality.

No risk, no story.
