Why wait for someday?

As we know the time we are blessed with is limited and tends to fly by all too quickly. How we utilise that time is consequently one of the most important decisions we have to make. Yet it is far too easy to put off until tomorrow what we are dreaming of today. The hectic pace of modern existence affords us an easy out; we shelve our aspirations so we can cope more effectively with the challenges of the present, ostensibly to have more time and leisure to realise our purpose in the future. Or we tell ourselves that we will chase our dreams ‘someday’ once we have accomplished other lesser goals. Probably it is our fear that keeps us from seeking fulfilment in the here and now, because we view failure as a possibility, our reasons for delaying our inevitable success seem sound and rational in the now. If we ask ourselves what we are really waiting for, however, we discover that there is no truly compelling reason why we should put off the pursuit of the dreams that sustain us.

When regarded as a question, “Why wait for someday?” drains us of our power to realise our ambitions. We are so concerned with the notion that we are somehow undeserving of happiness that we cannot see that there is much we can do in the present to begin courting it. Yet when we look decisively at our existence and state, “Why wait for someday, indeed!” we are empowered to begin changing our lives this very moment. We procrastinate for many reasons, from a perceived lack of time to a legitimate lack of self-belief, but the truth of the matter is that there is no time like the present and no time but the present. Whatever we aim to accomplish, we will achieve it more quickly and with a greater degree of efficiency when we seize the day and make the most of the resources we have at our disposal presently.

All the joy, passion, and contentment you can envision can be yours right now, rather than in some far-flung point in time. You need only remind yourself that there is nothing standing between you and fulfilment. If you decide that today is the day you will take your destiny into your hands, you will soon discover that you hold the keys of fate.

Timing Can Be Everything

We often feel that life is progressing too slowly or too quickly because our timetables don’t correspond with universal timetables.  We create carefully worked out plans only to find that they fall into place when we least expect. Or, on the other hand, we are dropped into roles we believe we are not prepared for and we wonder how we will survive the demands imposed upon us by unfamiliar circumstances. We are pushed outside of our comfort zone. Instead of being disappointed or overwhelmed with your progress, peace can be found in the simple fact that you are exactly where you need to be at this moment.

When the time is right every person fulfils their purpose. If you have fast-tracked to success, you may become frustrated if you discover you can no longer satisfy your desires as quickly as you want to.  Those delays that disappoint you may be laying the foundation for future accomplishments that you have not yet thought of. Or the universe may have plans for you that differ from the aspirations you have pursued up until this point. What you think is a postponement of progress may actually represent an auspicious opportunity to prepare for what is yet to come. If, however, you feel as though the universe is pushing you forward at too fast, you may be unknowingly resisting your destiny. Your unease regarding the speed of your progress could be a sign that you need to cultivate awareness within yourself and learn to move with the flow of fate rather than against it. The universe puts nothing in your path that you are not capable of handling, so you can rest assured that you are ready to grow into your new situation.

You may believe you need to judge your personal success using your age, your professional position, your level of education, or the accomplishments of your peers as a yardstick. Yet we all enjoy the major milestones in our lives at the appropriate time – some people realise their dreams as youngsters while others flourish only in old age. If you take pride in your many accomplishments and make the most of every circumstance in which you find yourself, your time will come.

If this has resonated with you in any way, please get in touch.
